About Margherita

Hi, I'm Margherita CavaniI come from Modena, the Italian city which is world famous for Parmesan Cheese, Balsamic Vinegar, and Lambrusco wine. Modena is at the gourmet crossroads between the cooking traditions of the north and the centre-south of Italy. I prepare everything in the traditional north-centre Italian style, with a magic that you cannot learn from books.

I belong to a family where the food had, and still has, the first priority in the social life of our family. All that today we call "slow food" was for me everyday food!  My grandparents owned a famous delicatessen shop "Salumeria Bertelli" in Carpi, a town near Modena, where they produced the best sausages and salami in the region. From a child, I was their proud assistant. At 10 years old I could cook and prepare handmade pasta to perfection.

For me to be a good Chef has always been very important, because its something that is deep inside my culture.

For me it is an Art.  — Margherita Cavani.
